You can make a clean, easy-to-read price list for your shop in about fifteen minutes, and it costs nothing. The trick is simple: let AI write and arrange the words, then put them into a free design template. This guide shows you exactly how, step by step, with a prompt you can copy.
It works for any shop that has prices to show: a salon rate card, a tailor’s stitching charges, a tiffin menu, a café menu, a repair shop’s service list.
What you need
- A phone or laptop
- A free AI chat tool, such as ChatGPT or Gemini
- A free design tool, such as Canva
- Your current prices, written down
That’s all. You don’t need to pay for anything, and you don’t need design skills.
Step 1: Write your prices down first
Before you open any AI tool, write every item and its price on paper or in your phone’s notes. Don’t worry about neat wording yet. Something like this is fine:

Why first? Because the AI must never guess your prices. You give it the numbers. It only makes them look good.
Step 2: Ask the AI to organise it
Open ChatGPT or Gemini and paste this prompt. Change the words in [square brackets] to match your shop.
I run a [type of shop] called [shop name]. Here are my items and prices: [paste your list from Step 1] Please turn this into a clean price list with 2 to 4 clear sections. Keep every price exactly as I wrote it. Do not change, round, or add any price. Use short, simple names for each item. Add one short line at the top saying what my shop does. Add one line at the bottom with my [timings / phone number / address].
Here is the kind of result you’ll get back, for a tailoring shop:

Step 3: Check every single price
This is the most important step, so don’t skip it. AI tools sometimes change a number, round it, or quietly add an item you never mentioned. Put your paper list next to the AI’s list and check them line by line.
A wrong price on your wall or your WhatsApp status is worse than no price list at all. It leads to arguments at the counter.
Step 4: Put it into a free template
- Open Canva (free) and search for “price list” or “menu”.
- Pick a simple template. Plain and clear beats fancy.
- Replace the template’s text with your checked list from Step 3.
- Change the colours to match your shop board or logo, if you have one.
- Make the text big. Most people will read it on a phone screen.
- Download it as an image (PNG or JPG).
Tip: don’t ask an AI image tool to “draw” your price list. Image tools are good at pictures but often print words and numbers wrongly. Let the chat tool handle the words, and the template handle the design.
Step 5: Share it everywhere your customers look
- WhatsApp status — and pin it in your business profile
- Instagram and Facebook — post it, and keep it in your highlights
- Google Business Profile — add it as a photo, so people see it when they search for your shop
- At the counter — print one copy
Mistakes to avoid
- Too many items. If your list has 40 things, show the 10 most popular. Say “ask for more” at the bottom.
- Tiny text. If you have to zoom in to read it on your own phone, your customers won’t bother.
- Forgetting to update it. Change it the day a price changes, and check it before every festival season.
- Not checking the AI’s numbers. Always do Step 3.
